When we think of the word "selfish," we often think of it in a negative context. We associate selfishness with being self-centred and only thinking about ourselves. However, there is a type of selfishness that can be beneficial and even necessary for our well-being: being selfish with ourselves.❤️
Being selfish with ourselves means prioritizing our own needs and wants, and taking care of ourselves before taking care of others. It means setting boundaries, saying no when we need to, and making time for self-care. We need to start allowing and accepting people to be selfish instead of looking at them as though they are bad people. 😒
Here are some reasons why being selfish with ourselves is important:
It helps us maintain our physical and mental health. When we prioritize our own needs and make time for self-care, we are better able to manage stress, reduce anxiety and depression, and improve our overall well-being.
It helps us set healthy boundaries. When we are selfish with ourselves, we are better able to set healthy boundaries in our relationships. We can communicate our needs and wants clearly, and avoid taking on responsibilities or obligations that we don't have the capacity for.
It helps us be more present and engaged in our relationships. When we take care of ourselves, we are better able to be present and engaged in our relationships with others. We are less likely to feel resentful or burnt out, and more able to show up for the people we care about.
Of course, being selfish with ourselves does not mean neglecting our responsibilities or ignoring the needs of others. It simply means prioritizing our own needs and taking care of ourselves in order to be our best selves for the people around us. 👏🏽

In conclusion, being selfish with ourselves is not a negative thing. It's a necessary part of self-care and maintaining our physical and mental health. By prioritizing our own needs and setting healthy boundaries, we can improve our well-being and be more present and engaged in our relationships with others.
